Hello. I have created some custom fields for a few classes and now I was wondering if anyone has a way uploading the information into them verses doing a one by one fill in. I looked at an import utility template, but they do not appear on it. Anyone attempted this?
Thanks John
John,
Can you elaborate on what you mean by they do not appear on it? I have attached the import utility for the Custom Fields screen to compare to the one you were looking at.
Thanks,
Eryn Wooten
Eyrn,
Thanks for the response. What I am actually looking to do is populate the Custom Fields fields once they are on the equipment record view. Example, I have added some custom fields to our generator class, Fuel type, fuel capacity. I have 30 generators that I need to put this information into. I pulled the import utility from the asset record screen, but the custom fields do not appear in any of the columns. Just asking if there is a way to put in this information other then one by one.
John
John,
When you click "Create Import Utility Template" on the asset screen, you will need to add the custom fields as headers. This requires going into Screen Designer in EAM to identify the field names within the database. If you, or any of your colleagues, don't have access to this, you can send a request into our Advoco email support, if applicable, and a consultant can get this info for you. I am going to send you an email with a PowerPoint that will walk you through these steps, though.
Thanks,
Hudson
Hi - Hudson, I'm interested in your PowerPoint if you're willing to share. Thanks!
John,
There is also a way to allow the custom fields to automatically populate when creating the Import Utility Template. Navigate to the Web Service Prompt screen. This is usually found under Administration > Screen Configuration > Web Service Prompts (depending on your folder structure).
Once on that screen, you will need to locate the screen where your custom fields appear (In this case, the asset screen). Once you have the proper screen selected, navigate to the "Fields" tab. Select any record in the viewing pane, and click the Actions drop-down button. From the drop-down, choose the "Select Custom Fields" option. Choose the custom fields (or select all) from the pop-up and click OK. Save the Web Service Prompt record.
Now, when you create the Import Utility Template from the asset screen, you will see the custom fields as a column, allowing you to populate the data.
As John mentioned, feel free to reach out if you need assistance with any of this.
Thanks!
Suzanne
Suzanne,
Thanks I took a look at this and I could use some guidance. I created one, but I apparently did not get all the fields I needed and I am not sure how to change it or if I should just delete it and start over. If you could spare some time to go over it with me that would be greatly appreciated. Maybe a Teams or Skype meeting. Not sure what you have on your end, but these are the main two we use, but I have used others.
Thanks John
@john.clapsaddle We can certainly have a teams meeting to discuss. Please post your email. I didn't see one attached to your profile.
Thanks!
@swilliams NO problem. john.clapsaddle@suez.com. Thanks
@swilliams, the instruction you provided above, is that applicable for user defined screens? I've created user defined screen and hoping to utilize the Import Utility Template so that we can load mass data instead of typing one by one records.
Hey Ivy,
Unfortunately, this method does not work for User Defined Screens. If you still require assistance uploading mass data into your UDS's, feel free to send a request to your Advoco Support email address, and someone from the team can work with you on developing the best solution for your needs.
Thanks! Suzanne
