Hour meter change

in Ask the EAM Community

I have a situation where a CPU board was changed an asset. This reset the hour meter to 0. Wonder if anyone else has had this experience and if so how did you handle it without losing your historic readings.

John,

If the same meter is still associated with the asset you should be able to enter in a new meter reading by going to the Meter tab of the specific Asset. Click on the Actions drop down and select "Enter Meter Reading". You can then choose if the entry is an reading or a difference. In this case I believe "Reading" would be the correct option. Then enter the meter reading and date/time associated with the reading. Then click submit. This should allow you to enter in the new meter reading value while keeping the existing meter reading history. If this causes the Meter Reading History to have a large jump some manual back end data management might be required in order to clear out any incorrect readings. If the meter is no longer associated a new meter will need to be created and associated with the Asset. From there the previous history will need to be manually added to the new meter and add the most recent meter reading. There are a few things that feed into your question so I hope this helps.
