Hello,
I have a request to setup a calculation to provide an answer on a task plan checklist. We are looking to get a % answer based off of 2 measurement verses a standard. I have a checklist line for the first measurement, then the next line is the second measurement. For the third line I need to take the first reading and subtract the second and then divide by the second and then based on a set measurement get a percentage. Has anyone attempted something like this or is it even possible?
Thanks John C.
Owen,
Thanks for possible solution to this. I will do some testing and let your know the outcome.
John
Hey John,
Sorry for the delayed response. I do think that this would be possible through flex. It may take a bit of trial and error, but I think that r5actchecklists would be a good place to start. The part I am not entirely sure about would be inserting the value into a new checklist line. But, putting this value somewhere else, say the work order screen using a user defined field, might be a feasible solution to your goal.
Owen,
I am looking to add it as a historical meter reading on a filter unit. We are required by DEP to track the media bed expansion percentage every quarter in our water treatment filters. We have to take a measurement of the filter media bed before a cleaning and then one after. So then the difference is kept as a percentage reading. The way it was explained to me was that you take the after reading minus the before reading then divided by the before reading. Not sure if this doable or if I should just write the formula in the checklist line and have the tech do it and fill in the answer.
Thanks John.
Hey John!
Something like this is possible, but it may be tough to do it in exactly the way you are thinking of (for example, inserting a value into the third checklist item based on the first two). But, it is possible to use the first two checklist items to get a value based on another standard value like you mentioned. What would you be using this new value (the percentage) for? For example, if you want to just use it for historical purposes, the way this is accomplished might be different than if you wanted to create a work order based off of the percentage.
Thank you,
